WeCount!’s members are Latino/and Mayan immigrant workers and working families, Haitian immigrant workers and working families, and youth. Their members work in plant nurseries and farms, landscaping, construction, tourism and housekeeping, and industrial shops, and are retirees. WeCount!’s new Mayan Arts Project seeks to provide opportunities for Guatemalan Mayan immigrant families in the Homestead area to have an outlet for their cultural creativity; for youth from Guatemalan Mayan families to connect with their cultural roots; and to present a positive image of Guatemala Mayan culture
